内容記述 | In schools across Japan, the issue of students refusing to go to school is increasingly becoming more complex and varied. Recent trends have shown that the percentage of elementary and middle school students who refuse to go to school is at an alltime high. Thus, attention has been focused on free schools as a place that supports children who refuse to go to school. Free schools welcome students who have become unable to go to school. On the other hand, due to the higher awareness of the issue of children who refuse to go to school, there are many university students who wish to learn about this issue in university classes. However, in universities, the focus is on learning and acquiring knowledge about the issue itself; opportunities are rare for university students to interact with children who have experienced this issue. This paper reports the implementation and progress of a program through which university students who had an interest in the issue could interact with elementary school students who attend a free school. Through the program, both the university students and free school students developed deeper relationships through such activities as games and exploring the university campus. Moreover, a survey was distributed to the university students, and a qualitative analysis was conducted on changes in the state of mind of the university students before and after the program. As a result, it was suggested that before the program, the university students held anxieties about interacting with the children and had biased views of the issue of children refusing to go to school. After the program, the university students saw changes in their impressions of this issue and felt that their perspectives were widened. Furthermore, this paper discusses the significance of university students learning about the issue of children refusing to go to school through practical experience. |
